Indonesia’s police chief says three police officers have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in illegal logging on Borneo island.
The arrests followed a series of raids on illegal logging operations on Borneo in which police confiscated around $US24 million worth of logs bound for China, Japan and Taiwan.
A national police spokesman says 19 people are under investigation in connection with the case.
Illegal logging is rampant in Indonesia, with environmental watchdog Greenpeace estimating that more than 72 per cent of the country’s ancient forests have been lost
