TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: West Kalimantan Police continue operation against illegal tin mining in the province as more tin were confiscated in the province, police reported on Wednesday.
About two tonnes of tin were seized during the operation in Batu Menangis Village and Cengkareng Village in Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan since August 29, chief Public Relation officer with the West Kalimantan Province Senior Commissioner Suhadi SW told Tempo. “We have detained four people who have been named suspects, Suhadi said.
Dozens of equipments were also seized during the operation, following the first catch last month, in which police seize abut 82 tonnes of raw tin and black sand in South Matan Hilir Subdistrict, Ketapang Regency.
The recent operation was conducted by local police while the operation in mid August was directly led by a team from Jakarta.
